To honor the legacy of legendary jazz musicians and the historic 1944 jazz film Jammin’ the Blues, the Great Park will be hosting a series of live musical events aptly named, Jammin’ in Palm Court, starting Sunday, March 13 between 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Irvine community is invited to come and partake in the festivities with blankets, chairs and snacks. The musical performances are free, and pre-registration is not required.

The three-part live jazz series supports the 52nd Street: Jazz and the Photography of William Gottlieb exhibit at the Palm Courts Art Complex inside the Great Park. Gottlieb was an acclaimed newspaper columnist and photographer.

The 52nd Street exhibition examines Manhattan’s jazz scene post World War II, paying homage to the era’s great musicians, including Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk and Ella Fitzgerald.

The Earl Gordon Trio will be performing on Sunday, March 13. The three-piece group features Tyler Dukes on bass, Hime Ikehara on keyboard, and Earl Gordon on drums.

The Earl Gordon Trio will perform again on April 10.

Looking ahead, jazz will be in the air around Orange County, as the Newport Beach Jazz Festival returns to the Newport Beach Hyatt in June.

The Great Park’s 52nd Street: Jazz and the Photography of William Gottlieb exhibition will be on display until May 1, admission is free.
