Today, Irvine joins the country in celebrating the “Great American Takeout,” as residents support the restaurants that remain open despite difficult times.
While some establishments, like longtime Irvine favorite Davio’s, have temporarily closed in the wake of COVID-19, others like Del Frisco’s Grille have found a way to continue operations despite pandemic restrictions. Several local eateries, breweries and wineries have entered a whole new world of takeaway-only service, removing seating and retraining staff to accommodate growing curbside demand.
Irvine Weekly, alongside the Irvine City Council, is asking for you to support local by taking part in the “Great American Takeout” and ordering food from the businesses that are so vital to our community.
From specials to never-before-seen deals, details on what restaurants are open and ready to serve can be found on the city’s website here, and on this extensive list created by Councilmember Anthony Kuo and his team. Those who wish to add their business to the list can email the Councilmember Kuo directly at [email protected].
You can also find essential Irvine retail businesses that are open, as well as eateries offering takeout, delivery and curbside delivery on this interactive map that includes both location and service hours. A filter allows you to narrow down your search, enabling you to find what you need efficiently.
As part of the #ShopIrvine and #DineIrvine initiative, the city’s comprehensive guideline for supporting local businesses during COVID-19 includes each restaurant’s full scope of operation, along with the neighborhoods they are closest to and the retail centers they reside in.
Per the County of Orange Health Care Agency’s Emergency Order and Governor Gavin Newsom’s Stay-At-Home Order, dine-in food service is prohibited in Irvine and throughout California.
Currently, food service through delivery, drive-through or pick-up is allowed, so long as social distancing is practiced. Social distancing requires one to maintain a six-foot separation per person for non-family members.
