Ira Glass, host, creator and executive producer of This American Life on National Public Radio, is set to bring his decades-long career in radio journalism to the Irvine Barclay Theatre on Wednesday, May 11, with a performance featuring music, audio clips and video.
Glass will come to Irvine with a career in audio journalism that began in 1978, when he was a 19-year-old intern at National Public Radio.
With this in mind, Glass is set to perform an act aptly titled, “Seven Things I’ve Learned,” and will focus on his passion and inspiration as one of America’s most influential storytellers.
Glass helped launch This American Life in 1995 and has continued working on the weekly show, which is still broadcast on National Public Radio.
In terms of success, This American Life has been recognized as one of the most influential programs in journalism history, having accumulated many accolades with Glass at the helm.
In fact, This American Life has won seven Peabody awards and is the first radio show to win a Pulitzer Prize.
Tickets range from $30 to $100 and doors open at 8:00 p.m. More information on tickets can be found on the Barclay Theatre website.
The Irvine Barclay Theatre is located at 4242 Campus Dr.
