The Irvine Police Department is currently conducting a traffic collision investigation that involved the assistance of the Orange County Fire Authority to free at least one occupant trapped inside a vehicle.

Graphic video shared via Twitter, Monday, Sept. 27,  shows the Orange County Fire Authority using heavy equipment to extract an occupant inside a vehicle involved in a “potentially deadly” crash in the city of Irvine. The crash occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m., according to OCFA.

The Irvine Police Department is currently investigating the collision, which occurred near Sand Canyon and Irvine Center Drive at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Monday. The collision involved two vehicles, however, the number of occupants in each vehicle at the time of the accident is unknown. It is also unclear how many people required medical attention.

On Monday, Sept. 27, Irvine residents expressed curiosity on social media regarding police activity on Sand Canyon Ave. and Irvine Center Dr. The Irvine Police Department that there is no threat to the public, and that it is conducting a traffic collision investigation in the area.

The Irvine Police Department has advised motorists in the area to find alternative routes, as the IPD investigation is expected to create delays until approximately 12:00 p.m.
