As summer begins, the city of Irvine is preparing for an awesome lineup of family-friendly events that will bring the entire community together for an evening of fun, while incorporating social distancing guidelines.

Due to the ongoing global pandemic, Irvine has announced that it will be hosting modified summer events including a Summer Drive-In Series.

These modified summer events will feature live music performances and movie screenings inside the Orange County Great Park in a drive through format. Irvine’s Summer Drive-In Series will take place every Saturday, beginning August 1, 2020.

While residents will be allowed to bring their own picnic essentials, the city of Irvine has also permitted gourmet food trucks to sell snacks to patrons. In a message to the community, Irvine Mayor Christina Shea explained that she was looking forward to bringing the community together.

“We are excited to bring a drive-in concept to our signature summer events,” Shea said. “This format allows us to come together and celebrate summer in a safe and responsible manner.”

Tickets will be available beginning July 1 on www.yourirvine.org. Due to limited space, tickets for the Summer Drive-In Series will only be available to Irvine residents.
