It took more than two dozen firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority and the help of the Irvine Police Department to extinguish a residential fire that broke out inside a mobile home in the Groves, a senior citizen community in the city of Irvine.

In a tweet on Thursday, August 26, the OCPA wrote that 35 firefighters “aggressively knocked down” a residential blaze at approximately 4:30 p.m. It took OCFA personnel less than 40 minutes to extinguish, which was limited to one mobile home, and reported by 9-1-1 callers.

Per reports, one adult male was taken to the hospital for injuries, which were sustained after the man tried to rescue his dog, according to OCFA. However, the man’s dog did not survive.

“FF/PM’s assessed, treated & transported an adult male resident w/ burn injuries to the hospital. The pt entered his home to attempt to rescue his dog and suffered the injuries. Unfortunately, FF’s found the deceased dog during their primary search for victims,” OCFA wrote in a tweet.

The cause of the Groves senior community fire is currently under investigation.
