Isai RochaA petition to remove Travis Scott from Goldenvoice events, including Coachella, has gained more than 20,000 signatures after the fatal crowd surge left at least eight dead during his Astroworld Festival performance.
The petition was created on Change.org, asking Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), Goldenvoice and its president Paul Tollett to remove Scott from its future performances.
Scott, whose non-stage name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was scheduled to headline the second day of the Coachella Valley Music Festival that is scheduled for mid-April in Indio, California.
Houston PD confirmed the eight deaths at the Astroworld Festival after a crowd surge that saw thousands attempt to push their way to the front of the stage during Scott’s Nov. 5 headlining set.
A criminal investigation is underway, and multiple lawsuits have been filed against Scott, fellow performer Drake who joined him on stage, the festival’s promoter Live Nation and its organizer ScoreMore.
The second day of the festival was canceled, with Scott later addressing the fatal incidents on social media.
“My fans mean the world to me and anytime I can make out what’s going on, I make sure to stop the show and help them get the help they need,” Scott said on Instagram Monday. “I could just never imagine the severity of the situation. I’m honestly just devastated. I could never imagine anything like this happening.”
Scott was also scheduled to headline the second day of the Day N’ Vegas festival on Nov. 13, but was dropped from the festival and replaced with performer Post Malone.
Los Angeles rapper Roddy Ricch performed at the Astroworld Festival and said he would donate his earnings to the families of those who died.
“Please have the families of those who we lost reach out,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’ll be donating my net compensation to the families of this incident.”
