People For Housing Orange County, part of the YIMBY Action nonprofit organization, is set to host the OC Housing Candidate Forums, giving all city council candidates and incumbents across Orange County a chance to engage with the community and provide their respective views on housing.
Housing isn't a partisan issue; the #HousingShortage disproportionately impacts young people, unable to buy their 1st home or struggling to make rent. So we are thrilled to welcome @OCYD & #OCYR to co-host Housing Candidate Forum! https://t.co/W6tOUOA3oX https://t.co/0H7oGNrXyG pic.twitter.com/9LzHNftDWq

The virtual events will be co-hosted by the Irvine-based Orange County Business Council, The Orange County Young Democrats, The Orange County Young Republicans, the Orange County BIA, the Brea Chamber of Commerce, along with the Kennedy Commission. There will be two separate virtual forums for both North and South counties.
For north county, which includes Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, Garden Grove, La Habra, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Orange, Placentia, Santa Ana, Stanton, Tustin, Villa Park, Westminster, and Yorba Linda, the OC Housing Candidate Forum will take place on Aug. 27 at 6:00 pm.
South county’s OC Housing Candidate Forum will take place on September 3 at 6:00 p.m. South county includes Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Dana Point, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Lake Forest, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, and Seal Beach.
The OC Housing Candidate Forums will take place via Zoom, and the public is encouraged to ask candidates questions in relation to the issue of homelessness and how each candidate will ensure an adequate supply of housing is provided for each city.
However, while candidates are encouraged to participate, it is unclear which candidates have confirmed participation at the time of this report.
