Celebrating 43 years, St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine will host the annual Irvine Greek Fest once again.
From Friday, June 16 through Sunday, June 18, the Irvine Greek Fest will feature authentic Greek cuisine, live music, dancing, church tours and activities for children. The festival is also offering free admission to all dads for Father’s Day.
Father Steven Tsichlis, Senior Pastor of St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church, invites the Irvine community to take part in the celebration of Greek culture.
“We’re delighted to invite everyone to be Greek for a day with all of the food, music, dancing, and family fun our festival has to offer,” he said. “Wander the grounds of our campus and savor the wonderful aromas and tastes of Greece while listening to the sounds of the bouzouki! You’ll feel like you’re in Greece.”
Modeled after a Greek street fair, the Irvine Greek Fest has held the annual celebration since 1980. This year, guests can expect to encounter several varieties of traditional Greek fare including Greek french fries, gyros, Loukaniko — a type of Greek sausage, and dolmathes — a very well-known dish consisting of meat and rice wrapped together with grape leaves. Attendees can also expect plenty of Greek sweets and pastries, including the popular Greek donut known as Loukoumathes.
Festival admission is $3 per-person, and free for children under 10. Senior citizens will be given free admission on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18 between noon and 5 p.m.
