On Sunday, Feb. 2nd, a fire destroyed Working Wardrobes’ Irvine headquarters, decimating its inventory.
“We are absolutely devastated by this catastrophic loss, the heart of our operations is gone and so is 30 years of history,” said Jerri Rosen, Working Wardrobes Founder and CEO.
Losses include thousands of donations: jackets, pants, shirts, blouses, ties, shoes, jewelry and additional accessories, home goods, office supplies, and more. Their career center, which provided computer access and training to clients, as well as their entire corporate office was also consumed in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Financial donations are needed now more than ever to help rebuild this valued community asset. In a show of support, Irvine’s Barclay Theatre is hosting a fundraiser matinee performance of the Tony Award-winning musical Ain’t Misbehavin’ on February 9th at 2 p.m.
$10 from every ticket sold will benefit Working Wardrobes.
Ain’t Misbehavin’, titled from the 1929 Fats Waller song, is a “high-spirited, feel-good tribute” to the Harlem Renaissance. Guests will enjoy musical performances that capture the electric vibe of the 20s and 30s. This three-time Tony winning musical revue stars Dawn Marie Driver, Ron Lucas, Tony Perry, Melvinna Rose and Anita Welch.
In addition to their fundraising show, performances will also take place on Saturday, February 8th at 8 p.m., and Sunday, February 9th at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at www.thebarclay.org or (949) 854-4646. Tickets range from $40 to $55, with Gold Seats available for $100. Irvine Barclay Theatre is located at 4242 Campus Drive in Irvine, adjacent to UC Irvine.
