Fire crews working to knock down the Silverado Fire for a fourth day have made significant progress, as the blaze failed to grow overnight. During a press conference Thursday, Oct. 29 Cal Fire reported that fire crews were currently holding the Silverado Fire at 13,390 acres, and established a 40 percent containment.

The Silverado Fire, a wind-fueled wildfire which broke out on Monday Oct. 26, in Irvine’s Silverado Canyon is now under investigation after a report filed by Southern California Edison with the California Public Utilities Commission indicates that a lashing wire, a component of a telecommunications line, may have ignited the fire.

Fire crews, however, were able to prevent any structure damage. As of 11:00 am Thursday, Oct. 29 all warnings and evacuations from the Silverado Fire have been lifted in all areas effected which include Irvine, Lake Forrest and Mission Viejo.

More than 70,000 Irvine residents were forced to evacuate Monday, as the the Silverado Fire sent smoke and ash as far south as Costa Mesa.
