Wrestling fans, prepare yourselves, for one of the most exhilarating nights of wrestling to ever hit Orange County. This Monday, May 13, the Irvine Improv will play host to Coastline Clash, the annual springtime live pro-wrestling event put on by Championship Wrestling from Hollywood (CWFH). The major event marks the first time CWFH has returned to Orange County since its original television tapings at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, and follows its recent celebration of 400 episodes (8 years) of weekly television, which airs locally on KDOC and is available everywhere on the FITE app.
This year, Coastline Clash’s main event features actor David Arquette (“Scream,” “Ready to Rumble,” “8 Legged Freaks”), as he steps into the ring for a grudge match against his former trainer, “Professional” Peter Avalon. Avalon trained Arquette for his return to wrestling, but following a very public recent firing by Arquette, and Avalon’s opinion that Arquette has yet to give him the credit he deserves for Arquette’s recent success, the two now face each other for respect, bragging rights and one of the most anticipated and heated grudge matches of the season. “I am ready,” says Avalon, “Coastline Clash is one of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood’s biggest events, and this is going to be the biggest one ever.” Avalon’s confidence of his victory is high, and he says he “can’t wait” to “beat the s*** out of David Arquette.”
Coastline Clash will also present a six-man tag team Bar Wrestling match, featuring Mexican lucha libre icon L.A. Park (formerly La Parka), and viral sensation Joey Ryan. In addition, National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Champion Willie Mack (Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground) will defend his NWA National Championship against MJF. The night will also feature the United World Tag Team Title Match (The RockNES Monsters vs. The Soul Burners vs. Double Platinum vs. reigning champs Reno Scum), along with several more championship matches and surprise guests.
Says wrestler YUMA, member of the 4-time tag team champions the RockNES Monsters, “As a talent who’s been with CWFH since day one, it’s very exciting to see the show continually grow. Our show features some of the best wrestling in the country and its family friendly! Coastline Clash is going to be our biggest event to date and we can’t wait to be back in Orange County where it all started 9 years ago.”
Coastline Clash is on Monday, May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Irvine Improv. All ages are welcome. For tickets, contact the Irvine Improv box office at (949) 854-5455 or online at improv.com. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase.
