Councilmember Farrah Khan Highlights Irvine’s Culinary Standouts
“Irvine is such a culinary melting pot, I feel like all kinds of food is represented here,” says Catherine Liu, a Taste of Irvine Food Tour regular. Councilmember Farrah Khan agrees and that is why she started her Taste of Irvine Food Tour last year.
Khan hosts Taste of Irvine as a way to discover new foods in Irvine while also hosting civil discussion about Irvine issues and politics.
“We make it as comfortable as we can for anyone to come and talk about local politics no matter their political background,” said Councilmember Khan.
“We have Republicans, Democrats and independents who come to our dinners.”
This week was hosted by Tebo Pho & Tea, a small Vietnamese restaurant in Heritage Plaza. Attendees shared quality conversation about the issues that face Irvine, while indulging in dishes like oxtail and bone marrow fried rice, shaken beef fries, and shrimp spring rolls.
These events are planned by Councilmember Khan, with the next one being scheduled for September 19. The location has yet to be determined, but past choices include Puesto, Southern Spice, Taqueria Patio, and more. Councilmember Khan’s Facebook page has more info on her Taste of Irvine tour.
