Irvine-based Food Blogger Lisa Bryan wants to remind you that just because COVID-19 numbers are declining in Los Angeles and Orange County, it’s still important to build healthy immune systems — especially those with underlying health conditions.

Bryan is on a mission to do just this with her Downshiftology digital hub, where she shares healthy and whole recipes, kitchen advice, and cooking tutorials. The platform’s concept is to develop recipes that get back to the basics and embrace the simple life.

Bryan started Downshiftology in 2014 after burning out in a corporate career as an executive for healthcare companies (cancer research, diagnostic imaging and molecular diagnostics).  Her days consisted of long hours, high stress and poor eating.

Bryan was diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases including celiac, Hashimoto’s, psoriasis and endometriosis. The realization hit that her work and lifestyle were affecting her health, so she opted for a “life do-over” and set out on a path to learn how to  nourish her body through food and lifestyle.

Her food philosophy is simple – eat real food as close to its natural state as possible – with a rainbow of color across the plate. Her recipes are gluten-free and prioritize fresh, seasonal, and whole foods. Bryan’s approach is rooted in mindful, intuitive eating and she frequently highlights  vegan, keto, paleo, and Whole30 dishes to her community of more than 11 million followers.

She shared her simple and cleansing recipe for a pineapple turmeric smoothie with us to start the day in this video.
