Updated Thursday, Oct. 1, 10:00 pm:

President Donald Trump has confirmed through Twitter that both he and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19.

While the cancelation of his California trip has yet to be made public, since the President and First Lady are under mandatory quarantine it seems highly unlikely Trump’s West Coast campaign stop comes to fruition.

President Donald Trump is expected to make an appearance in Orange County on Tuesday, Oct. 6 for a fundraiser for his presidential campaign. While no public mention of this appearance has been announced, the Weekly obtained a copy of the invite for the private event.

The event, hosted by Trump Pence Victory, is expected to take place at a private residence in Newport Beach, California on Oct. 6. The president’s Twitter page indicates he is on the move as of late, visiting New Jersey on Oct. 1 and Minnesota on Sept. 30.

In the 2016 campaign, then-presidential candidate Trump did not have any major fundraising events in Orange County, typically one of the top fundraising stops for any national Republican figure. Donors then were squeamish about publicly supporting his presidential campaign that year and a majority of voters in Orange County, a historically Republican stronghold, voted for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee.

In both 2004 and 2008 Orange County went for the respective Republican nominees John McCain and Mitt Romney. Both had numerous campaign fundraisers in Orange County. So the choice by the campaign to have a fundraising event in Orange County signals that the landscape is perhaps different.

While Trump did not have a major fundraiser in Orange County during his 2016 bid for president, during the primary that year he did hold a large campaign rally where over 10,000 people attended to hear him speak at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, it was announced that President Donald Trump is expected to make an appearance in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Oct. 6, as well. While no other details have been made public, an email from the president’s re-election committee has offered supporters a sweepstakes-style opportunity to meet with the president in Los Angeles.

“Can you come to Los Angeles with me I’m hosting a very important event soon, and rather than spend my time with the Hollywood ELITES who HATE US, I want to spend my time with REAL Patriots, like YOU. Will you join me as my VIP guest?” the email reads.

The Trump Make America Great Again Committee has announced a chance to “Meet the President in Los Angeles” by way of monetary donation to Trump’s reelection committee. Any donation received will automatically enter campaign donors to win a flight and hotel package, along with a photo opportunity with the president in Los Angeles.

The email continues: “President Trump wants to meet YOU in Los Angeles! If you win, we’ll cover the flight and hotel for you and a guest AND you’ll get to take a picture with the President. Please contribute ANY AMOUNT by 11:59 PM TONIGHT to win a trip to meet your favorite President!”
